Rugged power for tablet computers, phones and most digital devices wherever and whenever you need it, specifically for all users in the adventure travel and outdoor market.

The Powermonkey eXtreme - Black has been updated and now comes with a female in-car socket. It has been developed for people who need real power in remote locations, and houses a massive 9000mAh capacity Lithium Polymer battery in a compact, durable shell. The unit is capable of recharging most 5V devices, i.e. most tablet computers, and including an iPhone up to 4 times, a Garmin Edge 800 up to 6 times and standard mobiles up to 8 times and iPad up to 2 times depending on the model. It can recharge in three ways, via USB, using the Solar panel, or via the universal mains charger.

The DC port has been upgraded to output 12V (previously 5V), meaning that the powermonkey extreme is now capable of charging SLR camera batteries, portable DVD players and much more directly from the unit. This upgrade alone pushes the powermonkey extreme out ahead of its nearest competitors in terms of charging capabilities.

The powermonkey extreme is waterproof for 30 minutes up to 1 metre and shock resistant - perfect for the outdoor, marine & adventure enthusiast, as well as military & aid agencies. When used in conjunction with the aquastrap, the powermonkey extreme will be kept watertight whilst it charges your devices.

the LCD screen which displays battery capacity level and working status complete the upgrades to the powermonkey extreme. Rather than bars indicating how much power is in the unit, the new powermonkey extreme has a digital read out numbered from 01 (requires charging) to 99 (fully charged). When the unit requires charging, the battery icon in the bottom corner will flash. Whilst the unit is charging, the LCD screen will turn red and then green once charging is complete. During normal operation, the LCD screen will be blue.

Its unique one touch friction swipe ON/OFF control is designed so the friction switch can only be turned on if swiped from left to right, which helps to reduce the risk of it being accidently turned on when not in use. To turn off, swipe with your thumb from right to left. When the 5V device or tablet computer is fully charged, the auto shut-off function means the powermonkey extreme will turn itself off after 2 minutes, so the user does not have to monitor the charge state of the device being charged.

Best solution for travelling to remote areas
Wednesday, 24 July 2013  |

The Powermonkey extreme is definitely the best solution out there for trekking to remote areas. I have already owned one, but offered it to a friend, and therefore
re-bought it; —this new version comes with 2 new extra plugs, one for devices which charge from a female 12V in-car socket (cigarette-lighter plug) and an additional USB plug. Also the charging interface screen has slightly changed, to numerical values of battery levels, namely instead of the tiny bars, it now shows values up to -99-, which perhaps is better for estimating the amount of charge the battery holds. Overall a very good product, sturdy and robust. Highly recommended, even if it weighs a bit in the backpack!

Great product for keeping up comms on long trips

Really solid piece of kit - feels as though it will take a good couple of hits and drops giving that extra piece of mind!

Charges my iPhone 5 and iPad with no problems. Very straightforward to use.

I'm very pleased and so will be my Mrs knowing that in the event of an emergency I can make contact. (Also going to be good to keep the music going all day long whilst hiking!).
