Micro SD and Micro SDHC cards were developed by SanDisk using the latest NAND Flash technology; primarily for use as a PDA & mobile phone memory card brands such as Nokia and Samsung were early adopters to the Micro SD format. Other manufactures such as Transcend and Kingston also now produce Micro SD and Micro SDHC Cards. Capacities range from 2GB in Micro SD and 4gb, 8gb, 16gb for the Micro SDHC Card with larger capacities such as the 32gb Micro SDHC and 64gb Micro SDHC to follow.

Micro SD and Micro SDHC cards are derived from Secure Digital Cards (SD Cards), their small size (11mm x 15mm x1mm) and low power consumption makes them ideal for today's tiny but feature rich mobile phones and PDAs. The Micro SD and Micro SDHC formats are currently used and supported by: Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola and Kyocera.
