Memory Stick (MS) is a removable digital camera memory card format, launched by Sony in October 1998, and is also used as a general term to describe the whole family of Memory Sticks. This family also includes Memory Stick PRO, a later version that allows greater maximum storage capacity and faster data transfer speeds.
Memory Stick has been designed primarily for use in digital cameras, mobile phones and PDA's & was manufactured by Sony, SanDisk and Lexar. When available capacities included 128MB and 256MB.
Memory Stick PRO is a newer version of Memory Stick - designed for today's latest digital cameras and has a high speed data transfer rate of upwards of 1.8mb per second. Dimensions 21.5mm x 50mm x 2.8mm. They are available in sizes 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB & 4GB.
Some sizes / brands of the Memory Stick PRO DUO come with a Memory Stock PRO size adapter and can then be used as a Memory Stick PRO type card. As the Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO formats are no longer manufactured please use our product finder to check compatibility.
