The Micro SD / Micro SDHC format was originally created by SanDisk. It was originally called T-Flash and then TransFlash before being re-named Micro SD / Micro SDHC when adopted by the SD Card Association.
Micro SD cards come in capacities of 512MB, 1GB & 2GB with Micro SDHC format available in 4GB, 6GB, & 8GB. The format is currently supported primarily by mobile phone manufacturers, including Kyocera, Motorola and Samsung. Micro SD cards can be used in secure digital (SD) compatible devices via the included adapter.
The exceptionally small size of Micro SD / Micro SDHC / TransFlash cards (11mm x 15mm x1mm) allows mobile phone manufacturers to incorporate significant amounts of removable storage capacity into their smaller handsets without changing the physical size of the phone. TransFlash uses advanced packaging technology and SanDisk's latest NAND MLC flash memory and controller technologies.
